Rocky Mountain Chess Camp

The Rocky Mountain Chess Camp of Colorado Springs is a place for gifted kids to learn chess, and have a great time. Lee Simmons who runs the camp has been teaching chess to kids for over thirty years and really knows what he's doing. He knows his subject, chess, so well he should write several books but he's too busy teaching kids to become great chess players to write them. Chess is a valuable resource for kids, teaching not only logic and math skills, but providing a healthy social atmosphere, and a way to earn college scholarships as well. The Rocky Mountain Chess Camp, located in Colorado Springs at 308 W. Fillmore Ste #30, has things going on all the time, including a year round Thursday evening class, weekend tournaments throughout the year, individual lessons, a week long camp and two mini camps, and an outdoor barbeque and chess tournament complete with water fights in the summer. Check out the link below, (no pun intended).

Chess

Chess is proven to improve SAT scores, logic skills, writing skills, self discipline and an understanding of actions and consequences. It teaches patience, restraint, foresight and even humility. Especially humility. Because no matter how smart we are, there is always someone smarter. And the great thing about the Rocky Mountain Chess Camp is that when you are there you are learning all the time. Lee Simmons makes sure the kids are having a great time, and learning too. He has constant activities going on and really keeps things hopping. As he puts it, when their parents are paying for them to be at camp they are going to be learning all the time. And speaking of payment, this camp is reasonably and comparitively priced as well. The Thursday night class is only $5.00 for a lesson and a mini tournament. You can't beat that price anywhere, especially when you consider the amount of expertise Lee Simmons has in the game of kings.
